Diving Into Self-I-Dentity Through Ho’oponopono (SITH)

Self-I-Dentity Through Ho’oponopono (SITH) was brought to my attention more than 25 years ago. And I have encountered it and people who have spoken highly of using it over the years, but for whatever reason it never resonated with me.

However, it is resonating with me now.

So why now? No idea. I read a posting by my friend Tamara Penn about Ho’oponopono on Facebook and felt the urge to explore.

SITH Ho'oponopono

Self-I-Dentity Through Ho’oponopono (SITH) was developed by Morrnah Simeona (1913-1992), a Kahuna Lapa’au kahea (one who uses words and chants to heal), and is based on the ancient Hawaiian healing system of Ho’oponopono (Ho Oh Pono Pono)

The difference between the two systems is that the ancient Hawaiian system is done within a group with a leader while SITH is done by an individual.

The main purpose of this process is to discover the Divinity within oneself. The Ho’oponopono is a profound gift which allows one to develop a working relationship with the Divinity within and learn to ask that in each moment, our errors in thought, word, deed or action be cleansed. The process is essentially about freedom, complete freedom from the past”

Morrnah Simeona was so respected and loved for her work with Ho’oponopono that in 1983 she was made a “National Living Treasure” by the Hawaiian people.

Learning and Using SITH

I have been working with SITH for a few weeks now through readings although I have come to understand that taking a course is necessary to learn the system. Luckily there are 2 day courses available in cities around the world, and online through IZI LLC the training organization licenced to provide the training.

I have added a number of listing about Ho’oponopono and SITH in Richard’s Directory.

Using SITH process or Ho’oponopono as it is now commonly referred is quite simple.

The process is called “cleaning”. It involves erasing recurring memories from our subconscious. These memories cause us to repeat harmful behaviour again and again.

Cleaning steps

From start to finish cleaning a problem in your life should only take 4 simple steps:

  • Step 1: Identify the problem, by asking yourself what is it in me that is causing this problem?
  • Step 2: Using the four phrases formulate your petition mantra.
  • Step 3: Send the mantra to The Divine by internally repeating the phrases silently to yourself as and when the problem arises. Repeat the mantra until the problem is resolved.
  • Step 4: No Expectations; not really a step but it is vitally important to remember to forgo any expectations on how, when, or even if, the petition will manifest.

The 4 phrases in the graphic above are repeated. Over and over. And around any particular issue:

  1. I love you.
  2. I am sorry.
  3. Please forgive me.
  4. Thank you.
