Antarctica is the southern most land mass on Earth and home to the South Pole. It is the 5th largest of the 7 continents and the only continent that is not only a desert but largest desert region in the world.
Although covered in snow and ice Antarctica is extremely dry and therefore qualifies as the largest desert region in the world. It has one of the windiest and coldest climates of the all the with temperatures reaching -90°C (-130 °F) in some regions.
